Hari Lahir....

It's my birthday today... i normally loves to plan for birthday celebration for my frens.. tp bila kat my own birthday... i malas nak plan n selalu nya buat senyap2 or nothing at all... so for this year birthday i went for a night trip to Pulau Pangkor with Razi... not even 24 hours pun trip ni... boat departed at from Lumut... mmg dah banyak perubahan kat pekan dan jeti lumut ni :-)
we took the last boat at 7pm... although baru je kes bot karam.. but still no one pakai life jacket, maybe semua tahu berenang kot... but not me.. hahahaha
stayed at Pangkor Island Beach Resort... they have the nicest beach on the island (i think)... hotel cantik, view excellent... but i dont really like the room...

had a poolside bbq dinner... dinner was served by the poolside, but meja makan facing the sea...
breakfast by the beach as well... but the weather was not that good... tak jadi pun nak buat kayaking (my favourite water sport activity apart from snorkelling)
and around noon balik ke Lumut n straight ke Ipoh...
Anyway.... SELAMAT HARI JADI to myself...
Thanks Razi for the getaway to Pangkor... and thanks Shah, MJ and MT for the advance birthday gift... :-)

Me and RD...

kan ke hari tu aku g buat test lasik... dan doctor detect ada small holes on my retina yang rupanya ada shallow RD.

pagi tadi, aku g ke klinik mata hospital besar ipoh (my mom being orang govt, mesti nak ke hospital besar, she never trusts private hospital). the process was pretty quick sbb one of the doctor is my family close fren... so tak de lah aku nak complain on rules n regulations.

sajer je aku nak share the procedure... sbb to know about what is RD, aku dah tulis kat entry sebelum ni... mula2 mata aku depa taruh eye drops untuk 'kembang'kan pupils bg menyenangkan doktor nak teropong mata... the eye drops makes my vision jarak dekat blurry... (nak tgk sms pun kena dari jauh) then doktor tu guna direct ophthalmoscopes utk tgk the central part of retina (see pic). alat ni ok lagi... tak de lah pedih2 mata...
pastu utk check the whole retina, doktor tu guna alat called indirect ophthalmoscopes yg rupanya mcm lampu utk org2 masuk dalam gua... yg ni mmg silau... its like letak lampu direct kat depan mata. then dia ambil pic of my retina. sbb kan silau tu, nak driving balik pun agak sukar, tp kalau pakai sunglasses ok je lah...

RD ni menurut kata doktor need an emergency treatment sbb at anytime blh kena total blindness. and they have diagnosed that aku ada RD kat bawah mata sebelah kanan which requires me to go for surgery. nasib baik it is still at early stage n kat bawah, so masih blh direpair. they discussed abt the matter with my mom and she agreed nak buat kat Hospital Alor Star since kat ipoh tak de facility. masa discuss tu aku sedang diperiksa oleh 6-7 doktor2 trainee yg ambil giliran nak belek2 mata aku. rasa macam bahan ujikaji plak...

kalau buat kat alor star, aku akan undergo surgery next monday, tp aku minta tukar ke Hospital Selayang. nasib baik dapat buat appointment next tuesday, harap2 nothing happen until next tuesday. sbb impact RD ni blh jadi buta, hospital blh buat surgery soonest possible. but if u refer to the causes and symptoms, aku rasa aku tak pernah nampak any of the symptoms tu pun, and aku tak der reason nak kena pun. Alhamdullillah, benda ni dpt detect masa aku buat test lasik tu.
as discussed ngan doktor, i cannot fly until my eye is fully recovered. there's a possibility i'll be in Malaysia for another one month. aku yang sebenarnya plan nak ke BKK-CNX tomorrow, terpaksa burnt je my tiket... rugi!!! tp ye lah... dr buta baik tak pergi kan...

so insyaAllah next Tuesday i'll be at hospital selayang for further check up and subsequently the surgery (if doktor sana confirmkan kena buat surgery). an based on internet, selalunya surgery tu akan selamat, no hal insyaAllah...

What is RD?

ni sekadar info je... sesapa rajin tu baca lah... this is cut n paste from http://www.health.yahoo.com/

What is retinal detachment?

Retinal detachment occurs when the two layers of the retina become separated from each other and from the wall of the eye. The retina detects light entering the eye and sends nerve signals to the brain about what the eye sees. If the retina detaches, it no longer works properly. This causes vision loss in the affected area of the retina. Vision loss from retinal detachment can range from very mild to severe and even to total blindness.

The most common type of detachment occurs when a tear or hole forms in the retina, allowing fluid from the middle of the eye to flow under the retina. This causes the layers of the retina to separate.

What causes retinal detachment?

Most retinal detachment begins when the vitreous gel, the thick fluid that fills the center of the eye, shrinks and separates from the retina. This is called posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), a common condition that is often harmless. Sometimes, though, PVD can tear the retina. At points where the vitreous gel is strongly attached to the retina, it can pull so hard on the retina—a process called traction—that it tears the retina. The tear allows fluid to collect under the retina and may cause the retina to detach.

An eye or head injury, nearsightedness (myopia), eye disease, and conditions such as diabetes can also lead to retinal detachment.

What Happens

Retinal detachment can progress quickly. Because retinal detachment affects side (peripheral) vision first, you may not notice the vision loss right away. If not treated, detachment can spread to the center of the retina (macula) and damage central vision.
Retinal detachment requires urgent care. Without treatment, vision loss from retinal detachment can progress from minor to severe or total within a few hours or days.

Symptoms

Most cases of retinal detachment begin when the vitreous gel that fills the center of the eye shrinks and separates from the retina (called posterior vitreous detachment, or PVD). Symptoms of PVD include:
Floaters in your field of vision. Floaters are thick strands or clumps of solid vitreous gel that develop as the gel ages and breaks down. Floaters often appear as dark specks, globs, strings, or dots.
Flashes of light or sparks when you move your eyes or head. These are easier to see against a dark background. The brief flashes occur when the vitreous gel tugs on the retina (vitreous traction).

Treatment Overview

Only surgery can repair retinal detachment. It is usually successful and, in many cases, restores good vision.

The most common methods of repairing a retinal detachment are:
  • Scleral buckling surgery. Your eye doctor (ophthalmologist) places a piece of silicone sponge, rubber, or semi-hard plastic on the outer layer of your eye and sews it in place. This relieves traction on the retina, preventing tears from getting worse, and holds the layers of the retina together.
  • Pneumatic retinopexy. Your eye doctor injects a gas bubble into your eye. The bubble floats to the detached area and presses lightly against the tear, closing the tear and flattening the retina so that no fluid can build up under it. Your doctor then uses a freezing probe (cryopexy) or laser beam (photocoagulation) to seal the tear in the retina.
  • Vitrectomy, or the removal of the vitreous gel from the eye. Vitrectomy gives the eye doctor better access to the retina to repair holes and close very large tears.

The most common methods of repairing a retinal tear are:

  • Laser photocoagulation. Your eye doctor uses an intense beam of light that travels through the eye to make tiny burns around the tear in the retina. The burns form scar tissue, which seals the tear.
  • Cryopexy (freezing). Your eye doctor uses a probe to freeze and seal the retina around the tear.
Medications

There is no medication to treat retinal detachment.

Kara OK... ok ker???

We had a joint birthday celebration kat Red Box Karaoke sempena birthday Sha n Zu on 20th Oct... since Zu mmg raja karaoke kat doha.. plus sha mmg vocal wanita paling mantap kat doha (sbb dia je pompuan yg join karaoke kat doha hahaha) so birthday ni buat lah kat pusat karaoke... hehehe... date kena tunda lewat dr birthday depa sbb MT dan Zu br sampai KL from KB on that day...
selain daripada zu n sha dan aku as organiser... family zu, nizam, razi, MT, BH dan famil pun join.. (MT n famil chicken out, tak nyanyi pun). it was a 3-hour karaoke session yg tanpa sengaja extended for another 1/2 hour... with buffet spread yg ok ler... it was quite fun sbb dapat menyanyi dgn sound system yg best dan unlimited songs... kalau kat doha ad cd sama jer kan... hehehe...
best!!! :-)

Lasik dan Lastik...

*hahaha... aku dah lama tak citer kat blog... :-) well bz skit berhibur ngan kengkawan kat M'sia... tak blh la org Doha tu kata aku punya life ni blogging je..

**ok... nak citer skit pasal benda2 lain skit selain daripada citer raya... sebenarnya 6 hari aku kat KL aku terlupa nak bawak kamera, so tak der gambar g open houses yg aku g dan aktiviti2 aku kat kl... once aku dapat gambar, aku sambung citer raya...

semalam aku g ke Klinik mata kat mid valley yg ada provide LASIK eye surgery... aku dah lama terfikir nak buat surgery ni sbb dah bosan nak pakai cermin mata, plus mata aku plak tak sesuai nak pakai contact lense...

For those yg tak tahu apa itu LASIK (extract dari Wikipedia)...
LASIK is the acronym for Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, a type of refractive laser eye surgery performed by ophthalmologists for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.[1] The procedure is generally preferred to photorefractive keratectomy, PRK, (also called ASA, Advanced Surface Ablation) because it requires less time for the patient's recovery, and the patient feels less pain, overall; however, there are instances where PRK/ASA is medically indicated as a better alternative to LASIK. Many patients choose LASIK as an alternative to wearing corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Harga nak buat tu hampir RM2k sebelah mata... kiranya aku akan habis RM4k... kira ok lah, tak perlu buat cermin mata dah.. hehehe... so aku set appointment nak cek mata, nak tgk kesesuaian mata aku for LASIK... sekejap je test tu... in 1/2 hour je...

setelah buat normal eye check, dia ambil gambar cornea, dia belek2 my mata... the doctor come with a conclusion... mata aku tak sesuai nak buat LASIK sbb cornea aku nipis... :-( I do not know how should i accept the news, ada rasa geram sbb tak blh... tp ada plak rasa jimat... anyway, at least aku dah cek n tak boleh... hmm... kena lah aku g ke kedai cermin mata and buy a new frame, minat plak ngan tag heuer new frame tu... :-)

plus, the doctor found out ada few small holes kat my retina... and he asked me to make further check up on that... hmm... hopefully it's not a bad news...

ooh ni nak citer satu lagi citer...

minggu lepas aku g ke meibank kat KLCC nak transfer duit kat abang aku yg study kat Manchester... amount dia banyak lah jugak dan kebetulan meibank bg rate bagus plak ari tu... aku pun beratur n tanya lah counter tu camner nak buat TT, and disebabkan aku tak de buku (aku tak ingat samada kat ipoh atau aku tertinggal kat Doha), depa suruh aku report lost buku account dan br blh buat transfer, kalau tak aku kena balik ipoh (my bank branch) br boleh transfer.

then menunggu lah aku kat situ selama 2 jam sbb the officer kena contact branch aku kat ipoh plak, nak verify few things... aku pun sabar lah menunggu... setelah aku selesai dapatkan buku baru, aku kena plak beratur lain utk settlekan TT, tp org kat kaunter tu plak cakap yg aku kena provide a letter to prove my bro tu student kat UK tu.. dan aku tak de letter tu... ayoo... kenapa lah dah 2 jam aku tunggu br nak cakap dan aku still tak boleh nak TT...

apa lagi.. bengang lah aku... habis lah minah kat first counter tu aku maki... sbb dia wrongly advised me... dan minah tu blh jawab cakap, at least saya boleh dapat kan buku baru utk aku... sedangkan aku tak perlu pun buku tu dan yang aku nak is to TT duit tu... nak lastik jer perempuan tu!!! rugi 2 jam aku kat KLCC...
