Travel Report : Masai Mara (Day 3 - Finale)

After a bit of frustration yesterday... the final day started with a bright rainbow... it was drizzling in the morning... but only last for less than 10 minutes... the day was bright as usual...

So as promised driver tu gi lah cari rhino (again :-) ) but using the different route and go towards different places yg dah pernah lalu. so maybe akan nampak rhino. But aku dah tak berharap sgt. plus, according to the driver, semlm mmg ada org nampak rhino tempat yg dia plan nak g, which tak jadi sbb tgk simba family tu.

Anyway... we did encounter other animals today... its the long neck giraffe...

Zirafah

masa tgh jalan2 tu... ada nampak a group of zirafah berlari2... n cross the road utk g makan. so playful... seronok tgk zirafah berlari dgn tengkok nya yg panjang kaki panjang... n the way depa berhenti n make sure takde kereta br melintas... hehehe.... then pas tu enjoyed the pucuk pokok n main2...

We passed by zirafah-zirafah tu... dan terus ke sun/sand river... the area there quite different dr area lain... byk batu2 besar... kat area ni lah berlaku nya migration bulan 7 sampai bulan 9... i tot there should be a big river... tak nampak plak... it's totally different than other part of safari dgn ada byk pokok2 besar dan palm tree... kenkadang nampak mcm oasis je... :-)

anyway, the area tu mmg takde apa... no animals... tak nampak rhino... pusing sana sini... apparently it was not only us yg cari rhino... ada beberapa lagi kereta cari rhino during that morning, perhaps semua yg plan nak balik ari tu pun tak sempat tgk rhino, so last day mencari rhino.... but still tak dpt gak tgk... the driver dgr gak radio tp no one actually found any interesting animal in action pagi tu...

luckily we found a herd of elephants... so spend the morning tgk family gajah (tembo) ni...

Gajah

Gajah ni mmg binatang yg duduk dlm group with normally one adult male.. kenkadang takde pun male... yg jantan duduk sesama jantan, bila time mengawan br cari betina... btw... during this time of the year mmg banyak binatang2 melahirkan anak.... that's y aku blh tgk anak singa dan anak gajah.. in fact, kerbau n antelopes pun banyak yg jalan ngan anak2 depa... maybe the sbb byk makanan. according to our driver, gajah ni blh hold drp beranak kalau ibu gajah ni found out that there is not enough food. Dah lah mengandung tu 22 bulan... siap blh hold lagi.. patut lah lahir2 anak dah besar :-)

Being very protective, mmg susah utk ambil anak gajah... anyway, senang je nak ambil gambar bapak gajah ni... which i think dlm usaha mengawan... see pics below... (18sx ok)

:-) bapak gajah tu siap raba2 bontot gajah betina... alih2... hehehe... tumbuh 'kaki' satu lagi..

after that we followed the gajah g minum kat satu anak sungai ni... fascinating... tgk depa minum... but we can't stay long as aku nak kena kejar flight balik at 11 am...

On the way balik ke camp, we spotted a pregnant female cheetah... dia mcm dalam keadaan takut... very shy and lari dr kereta...

So itu lah pengalaman aku g safari kat masai mara, i consider that was one of my best vacation so far... its totally different experience.. dan satu holiday yg mmg tak pernah terfikir aku dpt g pun.. . org kata rezeki :-)

thanks to anthony... he is very good as a driver and a guide... oh btw, dia mmg head of the guides kat camp tu... so i was really in a good hand... no wonder it was really good...

the plane arrived 30 mins later than scheduled... seriously i do not mind going back again... perhaps to see the migrations... and cari lagi rhino tu... and if am lucky enough i can see some killing in action... InsyaAllah... :-)
