people talk and we talk... for many reasons we talk about other ppl... ada cakap because we know the real story... on other occassion we added a little bit of salt here and there to make it juicier... we talk and talk... tak sedar whether the person we talk about suka ke tak pasal apa kita cite...

kita tak cite pasal org... kita cite pasal diri sendiri... kita choose the most trusted friend or at least the one that close to us to talk to... sekadar nak share stories, nak release and seek opinion... so again we talk.... a lot... because of the trust, we believed cite tu setakat tu je lah... never expect it goes far...

ari tu aku tgk Q.Uni punya website dan aku jumpa satu course yg sesuai utk adik aku masuk. it is fully sponsored by Q.Uni, since adik aku br abis belajar n belum dpt keje, why not. at least dia belajar benda baru n better dpt belajar ngan foreigners dan new culture... pendedahan...

so adik aku, whether terpaksa or suka (aku tak tau) pun apply lah... and buat lah semua attestation, dpt kan semua salinan sijil sahkan oleh kementerian luar dan kementerian pelajaran plus kedutaan Qatar kat Malaysia (kena caj RM30 setiap pengesahan!)... renyah jugak, tp kalau dpt belajar apa salahnya... and hope for the place je lah...

so aku agak confuse kenapa depa minta original cerificate dan nak kena attest the original certificate plak tu. so aku pun call lah head of the section, nak minta kepastian... sebab first takkan nak hantar original certificate pastu kalau hantar original tak pe lah, now nak plak attestation on the original. aku call and the head cakap, yes that is what they want.

dia siap blh cakap, dia tahu yg semua universiti dlm dunia, if u pay a bit, u can get another original certificate.... tu dia... seriously dia dengan sangat angkuh kata mcm tu, like she knows everything in the world... and dia kata she can't do anything with this as this is the uni rule, aku minta reason behind it, dia nak make sure yg qualification/certificate tu bukan cert beli... pergh!!! ni course sambilan je, not master or anything, habis program dpt cerificate je pun.

aku jadi confuse still rasa tak puas hati... and aku cakap kat adik aku, kalau tak dpt sudah lah.. takkan lah nak bg original and dia pun tak de masa nak entertain, unless lah lps bg tu confirm dpt. ni masa registration pun mengarut, mcm mana lah course tu akan proper...

HIQ : Visa On Arrival...

Awal bulan sudah kerajaan Qatar buat announcement yg warganegara dr 33 negara yg sebelum ni boleh masuk ke Qatar menggunakan visa on arrival (dgn fee QR100 bayar kat airport) akan ditarik balik keistimewaan ni. maknanya warganegara US, Britain, kebanyakan negara eropah, Singapura, Hong Kong dan Malaysia (among the 33) kena apply visa sebelum masuk negara ni.

Kedutaan Britain dan US antara yg mula2 kena panggil utk dimaklumkan dan depa pun umumkan kat website kedutaan masing mengenai perkara ni. Manakala kedutaan Malaysia kat Qatar declare yg Malaysia belum dipanggil so perhaps takkan kena mcm US dan Britain ni.

org ramai mula membincangkan punca ruling baru ni... dan apa akibatnya... ada 2 punca yg selalu depa cakap:
1. Maybe sbb kes pembunuhan org hamas kat dubai, so kerajaan Qatar takut benda sama terjadi kat Qatar ni...

2. ni maybe kes 'dengki' i.e. kalau warganegara Qatar kena apply visa masuk negara2 eropah ni, so depa kena lah apply visa masuk ke Qatar. if with this basis, ada harapan lah Malaysian akan still masuk with VOA ye lah Qatari blh freely masuk malaysia (suppose QR100 pun tak patut kena, sbb depa masuk Malaysia free je...)

implication plak:
1. Family tak dpt lah nak dtg selalu, ramai expat sini yg come single n family come n go... so susah lah skit

2. reduce lah perlancongan (as if sekarang ni ada pelancong dtg pun) at least within expats kat gulf lah kan

3. penat lah pekerja embassy Qatar kat luar negara nak review visa application, sbb selama ni depa kurang keje... and bukan byk embassy Qatar kat luar, so more new embassy mungkin diwujudkan..

4. dan lain lain...

bg aku plak, kalau rule ni imply to all European n American but not Malaysian (sbb kita bg depa masuk free) what the heck :-)

anyway, sbb kan ruling ni dibuat mengejut (only 1 bulan notice - suppose start 1 May) dan byk negara n company complain (ye lah sini expat lebih dr local)... kerajaan Qatar menangguh dan akan mengkaji semula ruling ni... seperti biasa...kena gertak ngna org putih, kecut la depa... hahaha... we'll see bila depa akan taruh semula ruling ni.

Masa aku kat London... boss aku cakap, dia suruh aku g kl for a quick trip... 2 hari keje je... hahaha... aku negotiate utk stay for the weekends... dia kata ok..

anyway, a little update pasal keje aku kat london... i was involved dgn satu interview keje.. yeah am interviewing org (incl. british) utk keje kat London dgn company registered kat UK... like mcm korang nak keje kat negara korang pun, aku yg decide... and my boss give me the chance to pick who will take the job... (eh this note bukan nak kata aku bagus lah, aku kuli still cumanya depa takde bilik, so guna bilik yg sama2 team guna, and i was there... but anyway, at least aku dah dpt rasa apa org2 luar (expat kat malaysia) rasa, bila depa dtg M'sia, interview malaysian utk keje kat M'sia)

HIQ : Qa+ar Mar!ne Festiva1

Dari minggu lepas, aku rasa 14hb, sehingga weekend ni ada Qa+ar Mar!ne Festiva1. Location festival ni, dekat tempat aladin kingdom dulu tu, belakang doha convention center, sebelah Intercon. Kalau korang g area tu, nampak lah mana org g...
ada apa kat sini... ada sand art, ada bussaball, ada aquarium (aku tak masuk), ada theater and movie shows (aku tak tgk) and ada food court... frankly nothing much... but being in doha yang takde aktiviti, this place at least will kill 1 or 2 hours of your weekend... that includes time cari parking (parking byk). so go there have fun...thanks Syafei for the pictures...

Day trip : Stonehenge

Aku fly 2 hari lagi awal dr team... sbb aku nak berjalan kat London. My main aim was to visit Stonehenge. Aku ajak member aku kat Surrey(London) to join the trip. Dia yg dah dok situ for 2 years pun tak pernah pergi Stonehenge.

Aku sampai lewat malam and the plan utk g stonehenge was the next day. Aku sewa kereta dr Surrey, level C rasanya (not paling kecik lah) for GBP46 (with GBP8 insurance). From Surrey to Stonehenge about 120km rasanya. tp mcm mana ntah, the tom tom tu bawak kitaorg pusing jalan jauh, sampai lalu portsmouth and masuk town salisbury br sampai sana.

Entrance fee was GBP6 including audio guide. Since kitaorg g Jumaat pagi, tak lah ramai sgt org. Cuaca was not that good, mendung tp tak hujan, ada lah hujan skit after abt an hour aku kat situ.
Here are some of the pictures... was trying to take from every angle (Konon)...You can't really go near and touch the stones... i think sesapa g sana utk pemujaan je boleh kot.. the soltis day (ye ke?). and from audio guide tu da explain la itu ini... but still no one really know the reason of its existence... (ye ke... byk sgt cakap kat audio guide tu... aku tak dengar sangat... sibuk ambik gambar je... heheeh)Frankly, batu tu tak lah sebesar n se gah yg aku sangka... and ada part yg mmg agak jauh dr batu tu, nampak dia kecik je... :-)

lepas g stonehenge, aku terus g ke oxfordshire... shopping kat b1cester village... hehehe... that's my daytrip. apparently masa kat london kali ni, aku mmg tak plan for any touristy thing, except g ke stonehenge ni... most of the other free time, aku jumpa member n sembang je... :-)

London for business...

Hooray... Last month (lama nya cite ni) My boss suruh aku g London for a business trip... tp yg tak best nya dia ngan another colleague joined...

kesian my brother, asalnya plan nak stay longer kat Doha nak join Dune Safari n bermalam anjuran MAQ, tp sbb aku kena g london.. tak leh dia nak join...

my company dah tak nak manage accomodation utk staff, jd dia tak renew lease of the building n suruh semua org cari umah sendiri... yeah dia bg allowance... aku punya umah deadline kena keluar 15 april 2010... and paling awal keluar 1 March 2010... tp since my parents dtg in feb-mar aku tak plan keluar awal... and aku pun tak lah cari mana2...

... cari rumah...
then lepas depa balik aku dpt tahu a week after that aku kena g london for work. so aku pun kelam kabut lah cari umah... and my target was umah ada some view, i mean space utk tgk.. one bedroom apartment... and dekat ngan area office... dgn tempoh yg singkat aku sempat tgk lebih kurang 5-6 apartments... kalau yg used one mcm2 hal... bau pun kelakar... and ada yg funny look furniture... gedabak besar...

... price...
aku jumpa paling murah 4500 sebulan for 1 bedroom fully furnished (gile kecik umah ni) and for another 1 bedroom fully furnished 6k... ada 5k without furniture ada 2 bedroom for 6500 and 7000.... banyak option.. lebih kurang sama je... aku rasa sebab location aku cari near office and central, takde lah offer kurang dr 4500... aku dengar kalau aku venture keluar skit... ada... tp aku gile malas dok kat dlm traffic...

... fee...
and one thing kena cek... fee bayar kat mamat yg u call... ada yg akan caj as if dia tu broker, and amount dia charge, 1/2 month rent!!! giler!!! i do not expect that at all...

finally... after a week and few thoughts aku pilih umah yg first aku tgk... (love at first sight i guess) hahahaa... aku sampai la ni tak abis lagi kemas... so later2 aku post gambar umah baru.. :-)

Travel Report : Roadtrip II - Dubai - Doha (Day 8 - Final)

Finally... hari terakhir our trip to UAE dan Oman... hari terakhir ni, kitaorg ada separuh hari je, by noon nak ambik flight... aku plan utk cuba the new train system kat dubai. Aku ingat kan dah extensively open rupanya cuma beberapa stesen je buka. although station dia cantik and i can see the connection between the lines and system satu tiket (not like malaysia) tp location of the station tak lah yg terbaik. aku g ke dubai mall dr apartment, station dubai mall/burj khalifa tu agak jauh, kena tunggu shuttle and shuttle tu like 15 mins satu. so, aku tak sempat pun pusing2 mall tu to shop hehehee... sempat dok situ 15 minutes je... spend like 1 hour plus utk travel to the place, kalau drive pun cuma 20 mins (on weekeends' morning).

so... utk wrap up for the trip, aku rasa sgt bersyukur atas kesempatan aku bawak parents aku jalan2... Alhamdulillah... mmg aku berangan nak buat trip macam ni.. next, kalau ada rezeki, nak buat roadtrip kat New Zealand, together with my bro's family insyaAllah (harap2 dapat g tahun depan :-).

Travel Report : Roadtrip II - Dubai - Abu Dhabi (Day 7)

after a tiring day the day before, ari ni plannya jalan2 ambik gambar je. It was friday, traffic agak kurang berbanding hari2 kerja... and kedai2 pun tak buka sgt... so blh je lah cover lebih byk tempat. first stop, burj al arab.. bukan masuk pun, ambik gambar kat luar. aku dah 3 kali ambik gambar kat same spot... hehehe... next atlantis, first time aku g situ... ingat tak leh masuk, rupanya boleh...cantik lah lobby n hotel... but i wont pay the price utk stay situ, mahal gile.. tak ingat berapa... spend good one hour pusing2... situ...
dah tengahhari tu, straight ke Abu Dhabi (abu dhabi from corniche), menuju ke Masjid Sheikh Zayed... tak jumpa signboard, dekat sejam pusing2 around the masjid surroundings utk cari entrance masuk... kali ni berpeluang masuk ke ruang utama... alhamdulillah... mmg cantik... my parents love it... then back to Dubai (fyi, dubai to abu dhabi dlm sejam setengah). g Mall of emirates jap. then sempat g kejap ke Nayef road... my mom cakap dia tak minat nak shop, but then bila bg time kejap utk shop, kata tak cukup time.. hehehe... but it was satisfying lah... :-)

Travel Report : Roadtrip II - Muscat - Dubai (Day 6)

Kitaorg meninggalkan Muscat jam 9am. On the way leaving Muscat, kitaorg singgah kat kilang Amouage, salah satu arabic perfume yg popular. very expensive indeed. nothing to shout out pun visit ni, since dah sampai, singgah lah.
setiap perfume tu dia explain dr mana bahan2 dia. benda2 normal like flowers, citrus, daun2,kemenyan... tp masa tu br aku tau yg white musk tu binatang, and ada bahan2 ganjil mcm muntah ikan lah, kuku kucing lah, batu2 dan ada yg bau exactly mcm taik kucing/lembu (tak ingat mana satu) hehehe...
unik abt amouage ni, packaging dia semua manually done. and tempat packing dia mcm dlm gambar above... kecik je...

after that visit, we travelled 6 hours to Dubai... semua tido... aku je drive :-)
after a quick rest and lunch/dinner at 4pm. terus g ke dubai mall, kat burj khalifa. Hajat nak naik ke atas burj khalifa, tp before dtg sana pun dah tahu yg platform tu tutup for maintenance. and kalau dah beli tiket lah. sure rasa membazir, masa kitaorg kat dubai, the sky was full with dust and sand... putih je.. kalau naik atas sure tak nampak apa2. but to make thing worst, pagi tu (on the day kitaorg kat sana) ada rumours yg dubai aquarium punya tank nak pecah, so depa tutup the tank area and surroundings, so byk area tak leh masuk dan tak leh ambik gambar kat aquarium. (hmm.. belum apa2 lagi tempat ni, byk plak rosaknya... macam malaysia.. hahaha)so, end up, cuma dpt tgk the musical fountain je lah.. which was good lah... impressive...
right after that, around 7pm, kitaorg head to Global Village. mmg popular tempat ni, but certainly not a place for my parents... semua penat... not really enjoying (sadly, my dad said it was a bad decision to go there) penat cari parking and nothing much inside, mcm g funfair/expo pulau pinang... for me, i decided to bring them there sbb tempat tu popular, dah sampai... g lah.. anyway, nak g mana lagi pun hehehe... tp for sure, it was so tiring for them indeed... tu lah complain2 tu...

Travel Report : Roadtrip II - Muscat - Sur (Day 5)

Last day kat Oman sbb esok nya dah nak balik ke dubai... i planned to search for wadi... among all wadis aku baca yg paling senang nak access is wadi shab. jaraknya dlm 190km dr Muscat. Kena lepas wilayah quraiyat and menuju ke pekan tiwi... wadi ni mcm 1km before pekan tiwi.
the first part of the journey, dlm 1 jam pertama keluar dr muscat, kena lalu bukit2, jalan antara 2 bukit sampai ke pekan wilayah quraiyat. lepas quraiyat tu, br akan jalan landai and kemudian lalu jalan pesisir pantai. the road was excellent... 2 motorway no toll :-) sejam setengah kitaorg sampai. and disambut dgn view ni...kita kena seberang sungai kecik ni, caj dia RM2 satu hala seorang, bukan nya kena kayuh pun sampan tu, dia tarik ngan tali je...
then lepas seberang tu... kena jalan kaki for abt an hour..tak terasa jauh... sbb view yg cantik n tak pernah nampak sebelum ni... plus jalan2 ngan parents aku... sambil jalan sambil sembang... walaupun panas... jugak lah..
takde benda aku nak tulis pasal wadi ni... biar gambar je menceritakan betapa cantik nya tempat ni...
tp aku tak mandi pun kat sini... we had picnic n lunch kat sini n balik semula ke kereta. and singgah kat pekan sur for solat... (masjid kat gambar bawah tu)
lepas tu, aku menuju ke bandar sur. such a bad idea... takde apa2 pun kat sana, just normal bandar... terus balik ke muscat, sampai muscat pun dah malam... terus dinner... and rest early, sebab esok nya dah nak ke dubai.

Travel Report : Roadtrip II - Muscat - Nizwa (Day 4)

hari ni kita org g ke Nizwa. its about 190km from Muscat. I came to Nizwa masa buat roadtrip 2 tahun sudah, now i nak bawak my family plak. yg utamanya, nak g ke jabal shams, the highest point in Muscat (and gulf kot). and surroundings lah..

Perjalanan ke Nizwa mengambil masa sejam setengah. jam 10.30 kitaorg dah sampai Nizwa. since it is still early, we opted to stop kat Nizwa Souq and aku pun decided utk masuk Nizwa fort sbb masa aku dtg dulu aku tak masuk pun fort ni. said to be the largest in Muscat.
Nizwa ni famous for its pottery kot. kat souq ni penuh ngan pasu tanah liat... mcm pekan kuala plak. souq dia agak besar i.e. ada souq sayur, binatang and ikan kat satu tempat. tempat ni meriah especially before hari raya korban, sbb org2 berebut beli kambing.
Nizwa ni i think 2nd or 3rd largest town kat Muscat ni (tak sure mana besar, Nizwa or Salalah). tp, town dia mmg centered kat souq yg bersebelahan ngan Nizwa fort yg sebelah nya ada jame' (masjid). so... 3 ni lah center town Nizwa. gambar kat atas tu taken from the fort, nampak masjid dia and the residential area.

lepas went through Souq, kitaorg g ke fort. a good one indeed. aku rasa kagum sbb very informative, something yg aku tak expect kat negara2 arab ni. and mmg ramai pelancong org putih kat sini. fort kat doha ni, no where near ngan fort ni. siap ada tunjuk mcm mana depa trap org masa perang and ada videography sebelum masuk ke fort. its something normal kat european countries, but kalau kat negara gulf ni, information mcm ni mmg takde.spend a good 1 hour kat fort... then we all terus menuju ke jabal shams i.e. abt 30km from Nizwa town. hari dah tengahhari, we ate snacks kat dlm kereta je.nak naik ke atas tu ada pavement road... but not to the peak, dlm 7km akan lalu gravel road. tu lah sbb i have to rent a 4wd. kalau tak, tak sampai ke atas. but apparently masa aku kat situ, ada plak kete sedan dengan beraninya drive sampai ke atas...
on the way tu, we did few stops for picture taking session... seriously beautiful... bila sampai kat atas, sibuk plak tgk bawah... ada gaung (kata org perak) or canyon... a deep one indeed... sapa gayat tu, tgk dr jauh je lah...terjumpa plak pakcik ni yg aku takpaham... sama ada minta duit or jual batu or nak caj kalau ambik gambar dia...utk trip kali ni, aku go to other points yg aku tak pergi masa aku dtg dulu... lepas settle tgk semua, kitaorg turun and solat kat small village kat kaki gunung... actually semua org dah lapar... snack pun dah abis... hehehe...

mlm sebelum g nizwa ni, aku sempat g kedai buku n aku baca there's actually a better place to enjoy the gorge and the canyon, i.e. ikut jalan bawah, lalu wadi an nakhar. aku tak g area tu sebelum ni, so i determined to try out. lepas solat, terus aku ke situ.. even masa org dah berlapar. based on the book, it is less than 7km je nak sampai bawah tu...but utk ke tempat tu, mmg lagi tough., kena ikut jalan kat kampung yg kitaorg solat tu. first kena pass by satu kampung tinggal/lama then br continue ke wadi... jalan dia dr batu2 bulat2 yg kecik mcm batu sungai. so u rasa the terrain mcm keras but terperosok ke dalam... aku belasah je lah ngan 4wd tu.. n jalan sempit... kalau berselisih mmg ngam2... since the road was not that good my parents dah suruh2 patah balik je.. until lah sampai section wadi yg cantik... depa decided utk turun n ambik gambar...lepas ambik gambar depa kata jom patah balik, cakap jalan tak elok lah.. dah lewat dah lah... hehehe... but i moved on :-) ... i wanna reach to the end hehehe... (aku pun tak tahu apa ada at the end). but from the view so far really amazing... so aku continue sampai lah terjumpa a group of archeologist (dlm gambar atas tu) yg cakap depan tu dah kena tutup... and aku kena pusing balik... archeologist ni tgh study batu2 kat situ... since kena patah balik ngan ruang yg sempit n jalan berbatu... mmg buat kereta tersangkut, so depa lah yg tolong tolak kereta... hehehe... seriously i can say the view from wadi ni is as good as on top and at certain part even better... :-)
out of the wadi kitaorg g ke bahla, singgah ambik gambar fort bahla then to jibrin castle, pun ambik gambar kat luar. Bahla fort masih ditutup for refurbishment, jibrin castle pun dah tutup masa tu, dah sunset pun... anyway, i've been to the castle and it is not that good. in about sejam setengah br sampai muscat. sbb semua dah lapar, i've decided to go to thai restaurant, senang nak pilih makanan... and nasib baik sedap, my parents love them... that's the end of day 4 (day 3 in oman).
