Travel Report : Masai Mara (Day 2)

2nd Game Drive

Hari kedua bermula awal... jam 6.30am dah start ngan 2nd game drive... hari ni ada satu couple join... org Kenya yg tak mcm org Kenya (sbb tak gelap)... ngan bini dia (or awek dia) dr geneva... friendly lah depa... but me, intimidated ngan camera dia yg canggih... hahaha.. little did i know masa tu.. rupanya the driver ada camera with lense panjang dekat satu meter... hahaha... aku yg tak prepare ni... bawak compact digital camera je...


again, as promised, my driver nak cari rhino... :-) tp dia kata pepagi ni mmg kurang rhino... so dia pun pusing2 n cari lah interesting animals... dia kata petang2 better sbb rhino ni mmg keluar malam je selalunya....

Cheetah


then jalan lah kat safari sambil dgr radio kalau2 ada sesapa nampak interesting animal... so my first encounter was a group of cheetah... 3 ekor cheetah yg comel tgh relax2 basking the sun.

Sedang relax2 tu... depa nampak burung mungkin depa fikir nak makan lah kot... terus cergas mengeliat...
yup, we saw them eyeing for the bird(s) later... tp the driver doubt they will attack the bird... so kitaorg meneruskan perjalanan... cari benda2 lain plak... oh btw, for those yg suka tgk burung, there are loads of birds here... ada bird of prey, ada yg cute n comel je... vulture pun byk...
later, we saw many other animals esp. family of antelopes dan yg sewaktu dgn nya e.g. eland, oryx, toppee etc etc... lebih kurang je rupa depa ni, cuma ada slight difference in terms of size, color, tanduk... didn't really stop to take the pics... sbb byk sangat :-)

Leopard

before the drive ended (selalunya around 9.15 am sbb nak kejar breakfast yg habis by 9.30am) we stopped at another tree sbb ada another lazy leopard tgh tido... now i can take a better pic. tp, still tak nampak muka.. dia tutup muka dia kat dahan2 pokok tu...
After breakfast balik tent balik... relax, sambung tidor, baca buku... having a vacation alone ni yg bosan nya... hehehe... tp duduk depan tent tu, and relax mmg best... very calm... fresh... best tido :-)

3rd game drive

Petang tu jam 4 kitaorg mulakan our 3rd game drive. mcm petang sebelum nya, kena tamatkan drive ni before 7pm. the driver bg tahu ada bangkai eland yg dia nampak on the way dtg ke tent/camp. bangkai tu very near to our camp, but so far out in the field. nak tgk pun kena pakai teropong... ada seekor singa betina mengawal bangkai tu, while vultures dah tunggu je cari peluang. the driver said, mungkin eland tu kena baham the night before, sbb waktu pagi n tgh hari takde sapa inform nampak action tu berlaku...

after a short while tgk bangkai tu... we continue our safari. the plan was tgk ada family lion with their cubs and later go towards the sun/sand river where the place migration berlaku. maybe ada rhino kat situ...

Simba n family

After mencari2 akhirnya jumpa lah family singa ni... ada 3 female, 2 male and 2 cubs... semua tgh tido except the cubs. we were one of the first three car to arrive there... it's fascinating to see those family in the wild... mmg cute anak2 singa ni, mcm anak2 kucing je... and mcm blh bela je... and mak bapak depa blh relax2 je tido petang... we stop for quite a while...
apparently the couple tak nak gerak dr situ, they really enjoyed the show... nak tunggu sampai semua singa tu bgn tido and see the family in action... the driver dah ajak beberapa kali utk g tpt lain dah... but they insist to stay... aku mcm ikut je... tp agak tak puas hati gak...
later at that night only i know yg couple ni one of the vip yg dpt special treatment kat tent aku... some ceo of an local airline in east africa... hmm... no wonder lah driver mcm terpaksa turut je cakap depa... hmmm.... for me it is just not fair, depa dah pernah dtg kat mara ni for many many times (the laki first time dtg sini in year 1971!!! imagine that) of course lah depa ada preference and tak minat abis masa tgk rhino je... hmm.... anyway, lepas kitaorg balik... yup, only the simba family je aku tengok petang tu... aku complain kat driver... that it is not fair for me... he promised me that the next day, my last drive, he will only search for the rhino... for me i don't mind tgk lama2... but jangan lah sampai nothing else we could see...
thats the end of day 2.... thinking again... best gak tgk family lion, more unique than mencari rhino yg ntah jumpa ntah tidak... and i consider lucky to see 2 leopards, sbb ada org tak pernah nampak pun leopards.... and the cheetahs were marvellous... beautiful creature actually cheetah is one of my favourite animals... sbb lari laju.. hehehe... (teringat chetara citer thundercats)

btw, mlm tu i had good massage kat tent, quite cheap though... later had a sound sleep even sebelum 12 midnite dah lena.. :-)
