NBO : Malls

apart from shopping kat masai market.. kat Nairobi ni pun ada shopping mall... although tak se'grand' villagio or even city center kat doha... jauh sekali lah nak bertanding ngan KLCC or Pavillion kat KL tu... tp... i think its good enough...

no boutique except certain2 kedai ada lah carry satu dua brand... brand yg aku nampak ada kedai kat sini... Bata (a lot), woolworth (brand ke ni?), adidas dan benetton. apart from that maybe lah ada lagi yg aku tak perasan or tak ingat... so... brand2 yg ada adalah brand tempatan... which is good enough.. buat pe nak bazir2 belanja utk those brand mahal ni... support org yg tak sepatutnya je...

so these are some of the big malls yg aku dah gi...

1. Yaya Center...

yang ni mmg selalu aku g sbb kat sebelah apartment aku... but pretty sad, jam 7 most of the kedai tutup... sunday... separuh kedai tutup... but good enough sbb ada supermarket chandarana, java house and dormant (coffee shop), a nice indian restaurant... dia punya food court is under renovation... too bad...

2. Sarit Center...

located kat westland which is consider up market jugak lah... went there once masa office hour, singgah beli coffee... nampak mcm bagus.. besar jugak... tp besar lagi super kinta kat ipoh... 3 tingkat... ada satu supermarket uchumi. since aku nampak mcm best, aku g lah ke sini one of the sunday... too bad... supermarket je bukak.. lain2 tutup...

3. Westgate...

about 1 -2 km from Sarit Center... around red hill area kot.. or behind gigiri area... kurang pasti. consider a new mall.. yg ni cantik... but kalau in terms of size mcm besar ipoh parade sebelum expension.. seriously u only need 30 minutes to go around 3 level mall ni.. kecik... hehehe...

but good enough.. dia ada artcaffe.. one of the trendiest restaurant around.. so expats ramai lah kat sini... and kat sini pun ada cinema. satu show Ksh550 = RM27.50. minggu ni akan ada citer wolverine... so tak lah slow sgt... kat sini pun ada good book store, big supermarket - Nakumatt (ni kira mcm giant kat malaysia) and several other shops. the good thing is.. semua kedai buka on sunday... and org dtg sini nampak lebih standard lah...

4. Village Market

i think this is considered the biggest mall in town... but cari pembinaan tak nampak sgt mcm mall.. well guarded place.. location kat area2 byk embassy dan dekat ngan UN (believe it or not, kat Nairobi ni ada office UN kedua terbesar di dunia, kat NY being the biggest). so since dia area embassy ni.. for sure lah only upmarket and expats and diplomats lah... in fact org kata kat sini barang nya 10% lagi mahal dr tempat lain.

apa ada.... ada sebaris kedai makan pelbagai negara kat foodcourt dia... ada chinese, ada indian, african, thai food, turkish, etc... ada cinema, bowling center... ada nakumatt... tp on sunday, half je kedai buka. tp agak lively sbb kat area tempat makan tu, masa lunch sampai petang ada live performance... org nyanyi2 lah...

apart from all the above, ada beberapa lagi mall yg kecil which the largest tenant is nakumatt... ada prestige mall dan nakumatt junction. prestige tu mcm mall kat pekan alor setar je.. while junction tu aku g waktu malam utk dinner.. so aku tak sure sangat apa ada... both of these mall are well guarded.
